Georgia Wins 55 Medals at SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference

Atlanta, Ga.–The annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference took place in Atlanta, showcasing Georgia’s exceptional talent in technical education. This year, Georgia continued to excel on the national stage, securing the sixth ranking in the country for total medals, with a grand total of 55. The event highlighted the state’s commitment to nurturing skilled professionals ready for a growing workforce.

Georgia ranked sixth in the nation for the total number of medals, with a tally of 55 medals. Specifically, Georgia Postsecondary earned a total of 36 medals:

– 17 Gold
– 5 Silver
– 14 Bronze

Our top national medal recipient chapters are: North Georgia Technical College and Savannah Technical College tied with 5 medals each; Augusta Technical College, Columbus Technical College, Lanier Technical College, and South Georgia Technical College tied with 4 medals each.

The Dr. John Scott Award for highest scoring individual competitor in Georgia Postsecondary went to Angela Wilson from Augusta Technical College in the Graphics Imaging Sublimation competition. The Curtiss Bell Award for highest scoring team competitors in Georgia Postsecondary awarded to the team of Jessica Gray, Jerica Mannthey, & Alexis Peacock from Columbus Technical College in Crime Scene Investigation.

SkillsUSA Georgia Postsecondary was recognized as a state association for increased membership during the 2025-2026 school year. Corina Stewart from Savannah Technical College served as the SkillsUSA National College/Postsecondary Secretary and helped facilitate the entire conference in front of 19,000 attendees. Technical College System of Georgia Student Affairs Manager and SkillsUSA Georgia Postsecondary State Director Dr. Tjazha Mazhani received a 10-year organization service pin and was re-elected to the SkillsUSA National Board of Directors. Sherrie Rowe, Department Head for Design & Media Production Technology at Augusta Technical College was recognized as a 2026 Outstanding Career and Technical Educator Award honoree.
